PHILOSOPHY
The faculty of education is dedicated to the highest ideals of teaching, scholarship and service. The faculty meets this mission through the preparation of professionals who are committed to the betterment of society through a lifelong quest for excellence in learning, leadership, stewardship and communication of ideas. Faculty academic programmes are designed to equip its beneficiaries with intellectual and practical skills in subject matters and pedagogy, and be able to apply current research findings to benefit learners in schools.



AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The programmes of the faculty are designed to achieve the following aims and objectives:
1. Produce highly motivated, conscientious and efficient classroom teachers for all levels of education system;

2. Encourage further the spirit of enquiry and creativity teachers;

3. Help teachers to fit into the social life of the community and society at large and enhance commitment to local and national objectives;

4. Provide teacher with the intellectual and professional background adequate for their assignment and to make adaptable to any changing situation not only in the life of their locality and country, but in the wider world; and

5. Enhance teachers commitment to the teaching profession.


 

 

To be considered for admission into the first degree programme, candidates should

1. Have five credit pass in not more than two sittings in any of the following examinations;

  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level Examination
  • West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE),
  • National Examination Council (NECO),
  • National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) or their equivalents

2. Obtain the minimum cut-off score in UME conducted by JAMB

3. Meet the various departmental registration requirements
