PHILOSOPHY

The Niger Delta University Business School ( NDUBS)  is dedicated to excellence in business education and leadership skills. Our goal is to develop business acumen, entrepreneurship, and innovative thinking, giving students and course participants the tools they need to succeed in the competitive global market.

INSTITUTIONAL OVERVIEW

PREAMBLE

The Niger Delta University Business School is was approved by the university senate in July 2024, and ratified by the Governing Council in October 2014.  The objectives for establishing the school include the following:

  • To provide cutting-edge business education and leadership, with the objective of fostering the entrepreneurial spirit that is required to advance socioeconomic  development
  • Engage in well-articulated business education and leadership programmes geared to equip students and business executives with the skills required to confront local and global business challenges
  • Provide training and research focused on  global business best practices and innovation as a tool to contribute to the economic growth of  Nigeria and beyond.
  • Improve on NDU’s research output and reputation and by extension, the visibility  and ranking of the university
  • Engage in partnerships and collaborations between industry, government agencies and the university to provide opportunities for internships and job placements for NDU graduates
  • Engagement with communities and government via community service to foster strong community-government relations and associated benefits.

The goals of the school aligns with the vision of the Niger Delta University which seeks to produce creative and innovative minds, and the mission which anchors on promoting the economic well-being of mankind.

The MBA/EMBA  programme seeks to deepen the  understanding of the field of management and its practice. The available EMBA programmes include:

EXECUTIVE MASTER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

Master in Public Administration (MPA) is a professional degree that inducts  students into  public  public sector roles and management.  The available MPA programmes include:  International Development; Public Service Management and Leadership; Public Policy and Development; Public Finance, Public Private Partnership, Legislative Administration ; Educational Leadership, Legal Leadership,

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

  1. Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) -12 months
  2. Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA)      -12 months
  3. Executive MBA designed for working professionals – 24 months
  4. Executive MPA designed for working professionals – 24 monts
  5. Executive/Professorial Education Programmes : 3-12 months depending on the type of training

 

STRUCTURE OF PGD AND MASTERS PROGRAMMES

The programmes will be structured into modules designed to meet course objectives and specifications as follows:

  1. Postgraduate Diploma – Three Modules (16 weeks each)
  2. Executive Masters in Business Administration –  Six Modules ( 16 weeks each)
  3. Executive Masters in Public Administration – Six  Modules ( 16 weeks each)

Short Courses: Customized programs designed for executives and corporate leaders, focusing on:  Financial Leadership Programme; Executive Leadership Development Programme; Organisation and Team Management; Strategic Marketing; Strategic Board Effectiveness and Management; Corporate Strategy; Occupational Safety and Conflict Management; and Budget and Control; Leadership and Strategy Digital Transformation Project Management Corporate Governance and  Ethics Workshops & Seminars; Topics include financial management, supply chain innovation, and corporate sustainability. — Student Support and Resources: Career Development Center: Offers career counseling, internships, and networking opportunities with business leaders. Entrepreneurship Hub: A center to support startup incubation and provide resources for aspiring entrepreneurs. Alumni Network: A robust platform for networking, mentorship, and continuous professional development

 

CUSTOMISED CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES

The School will run three, six, nine or twelve months certificate programmes in Management and Leadership;  Business Development; and  Finance and  Management.

 

OPEN SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP

The School will organise monthly and quarterly open seminars and workshops for targeted audience and participants

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):

The criteria for admission into the PGD programs will be as follows:

  • All candidates MUST meet the matriculation requirements
  • A candidate with at least third class degree in the relevant field from an approved/recognized University.
  • HND holders with a minimum of credit level pass from recognized institutions.

Masters Programmes ( EMBA, and EMPA)

Holders of the following qualifications are eligible for admission into the

EMBA Programme:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class lower division from an approved University.
  • HND with a minimum of upper credit and PGD from an approved Institution.
  • Professional qualifications, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIIN, ACIPM, AMNIM and ACIB with PGD.
  • Candidates must meet matriculation requirements including credit pass in  English Language and Mathematics WASSC and its equivalent, in addition to   at least 3 years post qualification work experience. Experience in senior managerial or administrative position will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience for EMBA applicants. Proficiency in English (TOEFL/IELTS for non-English speakers).

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTERS PROGRAMMES

  • 19 core courses of the three units
  • Six elective courses of three units
  • Business Project

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA  PROGRAMMES

A Postgraduate Diploma shall have a minimum of 36 credits units of workload broken into  32 credit units of course work and 4 credit units of project report.

Admission Requirements for Executive Education Programmes

MBA & EMBA Programs: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Minimum of three years of work experience for EMBA applicants. Proficiency in English (TOEFL/IELTS for non-English speakers).

Governance and Advisory Board 

The Governance and Advisory Board is the highest decision-making organ of the school. The statutory Chairman of the Board is the Vice-Chancellor who normally delegates the responsibility to the Dean of the Business

MODE OF DELIVERY OF LECTURES AND OTHER ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

Delivery Mode: Flexible:  Work day, Weekend and Evening Classes with flexible schedules. All programmes of the Business School will be hybrid (both online and on-ground).

OPERATIONAL FRAMEWORK

The NDUBS is an international school with high volume of online programmes. It is designed to  operate outside the normal university calendar and staff associations. Subsequently, it is not affected by industrial actions by university staff unions or associations. The Admission March and September of each year

STAFF STRUCTURE

Staff of the School is sourced from the academia, industry and the public service. Given that THE NDUBS is  hands on/ practice based,  high standing corporate personalities, serving and retired business executives such as bank managers,  corporate entities in manufacturing, construction,  the NGO sector, retired permanent secretaries, heads of Professional associations, etc. are given high preference in recruitment . The School have tenured staff, adjunct staff, and visiting staff.
