PHILOSOPHY

The Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing (MCHN) is aimed at being a centre of Midwifery excellence through high quality programmes and policies that will produce creative and innovative minds.

 

 

MISSION

To work in collaboration with the faculty to achieve management goals so as to produce students who can provide quality care of patients / clients through research and practice.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

PROGRAMMES
A brief description of the available programs of the department:
Programmes offered in the Department of MCHN include:

 

* Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSC) – the students of BNSC at the fifth year take the Final Qualifying Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Professional Examinations for Midwives to be registered and licensed to practice as Registered Midwives (RM).

* Post Graduate Diploma – Midwifery- This is a two (2) semester minimum, Four (4) semester maximum, Diploma programme for midwifery.

* The Master of Science in Maternal and Child health Nursing (M. Sc, MCHN), is to produce professional midwives that are capable of providing quality midwifery services on graduation and pursue Doctorate Degree programme in midwifery.
